Where It Started

This one started from the inside. While working as Operations & Logistics Coordinator at a trucking company running entirely on paper and filing cabinets, the problem was impossible to ignore — nothing was searchable, nothing was trackable, and everything took longer than it needed to. The first version was built internally in Microsoft Access just to make the job manageable. SimpleTrucker is that system rebuilt properly as a full web application, available to any small carrier that needs to get off paper.

The Problem

Small trucking companies run on paper. Loads tracked in notebooks, documents stuffed in filing cabinets, invoices handled manually. There was no affordable, purpose-built tool for a small carrier to run their operations digitally — the big enterprise software was overkill and priced for fleets, not owner-operators.

What Was Built

Built SimpleTrucker — a web app where trucking companies manage everything in one place. Dispatchers add loads and track them from active to delivered. Drivers upload proof of delivery as a PDF right from the road. The accounting side tracks how each load was paid — standard, quick pay, or factored — and flags what still needs to be processed. Equipment records keep maintenance and expenses organized per truck and trailer. Reports give owners a clear picture of profit and loss without digging through paperwork.

What It Does

  • Load Board — add loads, assign drivers, and track every shipment from dispatch through delivery
  • Proof of Delivery — drivers upload the signed delivery PDF from the road; it attaches directly to the load record
  • Accounting — track how each load was paid (standard, quick pay, or factored) and see at a glance what still needs to be processed
  • Customer Management — full customer records with contact info, history, and related documents
  • Driver Management — driver profiles, license info, and load history all in one place
  • Document Storage — bills of lading, delivery confirmations, contracts, and driver records stored in the cloud and searchable
  • Equipment Tracking — add trucks and trailers with year, make, and model; log expenses per unit to track maintenance costs
  • Reporting — profit and loss reports so owners can see how the business is actually performing

Why It Matters

Born out of a real problem — the foundation came from an internal tool built while working as Operations Coordinator at a trucking company that was running entirely on paper. SimpleTrucker is the full rebuild of that system as a proper web application, designed for any small carrier that needs to get off paper without paying for enterprise software.
